Welcome To Lincroft School!

Lincroft Elementary School is one of the twelve elementary schools in the Middletown Township Public Schools. It is located on Newman Springs Road which runs through the heart of the Lincroft section of town. Across the street is the Lincroft Annex of the Middletown Township Library. The school is a one-story building with over 520 students from Grades K-5. Lincroft School is inclusive, affording opportunities to all students.

The students at Lincroft Elementary School are active participants in meaningful activities to guide them in becoming lifelong learners and responsible citizens. Students are provided with classes in Art, Music, Health, Spanish and Physical Education. In grades four and five, students have the opportunity to participate in Instrumental Music. Technology is embedded throughout the curriculum. Classrooms are equipped with computers, educational software, a sound field system, an LCD projector and a document camera. The entire building is wireless and the school has IPads, laptops, mini laptops and SMART Boards. In grades four and five students are able to bring their own wireless devices from home.

Lincroft Elementary School implements the district-approved curricula in every class and subject area. In developing the curricula, committees utilize the Common Core State Standards as a guide to developing new initiatives and to revise established curricula. Each year, students in grades three, four and five across New Jersey are assessed using the NJ Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK). In addition, students in Grades K-5 are assessed using the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA2).

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) enhances the curriculum by providing enrichment programs in the areas of reading, science, math, art, career awareness and media. Parental involvement is one of Lincroft School's strengths. Through the cooperative involvement of parents and staff, the quality of the students' education has been greatly enhanced. Lincroft Elementary School has been recognized as a "School of Excellence" by the National PTA organization for parental support to the school.

Library volunteers and Read Across America Week events help foster a love of reading. Educational Enrichment programs provide students an opportunity to have experiences beyond the classroom in a variety of areas. Career Day shows students the possibilities out there for them as adults.

During the year, classes can be found initiating ideas to help others through various events such as Lincroft Gives Back. A strong sense of civic responsibility is an integral part of the students' learning. Our school is committed to a common goal that provides a cadre of experiences for our students so they can successfully live in an ever-changing world.

History

The building of many new homes in Middletown Township, due in part to the opening of the southern extension of the Garden State Parkway, resulted in an increase in school population. Built in 1957, Lincroft Elementary School supplemented the facilities of the three-room Lincroft School which was built in 1908. The three-room school building then became the Lincroft Annex and now houses the Lincroft Branch of the Middletown Township Public Library.

The present school was constructed on twenty-six acres of land donated by Mr. Lewis S. Thompson, Jr. The overall cost of the building, including construction, roads, landscaping and architect's fees, was $415,000. The original building included fourteen classrooms, a library, all purpose room with a stage, a general office and a medical room. In 1960, ten additional classrooms were added. In 2007, Lincroft School commemorated their 50th Anniversary.
