Principal's Message: February 16, 2017
I can hardly believe it, but tomorrow is the 100th Day of School! No doubt we have all grown a lot in these last 100 days and that is a cause for celebration. I can't wait to see what the next 80 days bring! Be sure to follow me on Twitter tomorrow as I share out some of the students' 100 Day activities.
Thank you for your generosity in helping us raise funds for the American Heart Association through the Jump Rope for Heart program. We not only raised money for research, but thanks to Mrs. Cetnar and Mr. Trezza learned many ways to keep our hearts healthy. One way to keep a healthy heart is to reduce stress. Later this month, our SBSS, Mrs. Richardson, will be posting information on mindfulness as a way to reduce stress and be fully present in the moment. Keep your eye out for it under the Counselor's Corner on this page. Another way to reduce stress is to keep physically active. Check out the different family activities offered through our local community and county under Community Events. Be sure to mark your calendar for the District's upcoming Health and Wellness Fair on March 16th at HSN.
Feb. 23rd is a popular day coming up. It is the last day to bring in your BoxTops for our collection and competition! There is still time to ask your co-workers, friends and relatives to save them for you as well. It is also the day for parents of our 5th graders to attend Orientation at Thompson Middle School. You can find more information on both of these events in our virtual backpack.
Get ready for Read Across America! This year we will be having a school-wide week long celebration, Feb. 27th - March 3rd! Each day of the week has something special planned. Check out the flyer in virtual backpack and begin planning now. I can't wait to see who the students dress up as... and of course I am excited to show you my book character costume too!
I appreciate your assistance in getting the word out for our upcoming Kindergarten Registration Week, March 6th - 10th for children age 5 by October 1, 2017. Please note the times and locations for evening registrations in the event you are unable to register directly at Middletown Village School during the day. I cannot stress how important it is in determining the number of Kindergarten classes and staffing needed for next year, to have all eligible students register during this week. Please share registration information with your neighbors as well as your child's preschool.
Please be sure to check the Google calendar below for upcoming school events and activities.
