PHI DELTA KAPPA INTERNATIONAL PROSPECTIVE EDUCATOR SCHOLARSHIPS - Awarded to prospective educators who have a connection to PDK. Eligible students must meet one of the following criteria:  high school senior intending to major in education who is a member of a Future Educators Association® chapter in good standing, the child or grandchild of a Kappan in good standing, has one of his/her reference letters written by a Kappan in good standing, or whose application is selected to represent the local PDK chapter. FRANK AND LOUISE GROFF FOUNDATION - For prospective nurses. Eligibility criteria include financial need, academic accomplishment, and involvement in school and community activities. Students who plan to major in nursing in either a four-year college or a certificated program should complete all forms carefully; transcript and letter of recommendation required. Students attending Brookdale Community College for nursing must be admitted to the nursing program in order to qualify. Applications are available in the guidance office, and must be mailed through the guidance office to arrive by the deadline date.

DELMARVA FARMER SCHOLARSHIP – Available to students planning to study for a career in agriculture, members of farm families, and those employed in ag-related fields. Essay required. Information and application are available in the guidance office or at www.americanfarm.com

GARDEN CLUB OF NEW JERSEY SCHOLARSHIP – Open to students who plan to pursue the study of Horticulture and related fields. Criteria include academic excellence, extracurricular activities, work experience, financial need and legal residence in New Jersey. ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDERS FOR PROFESSIONAL & COMMUNITY ADVANCEMENT OF AT&T – Scholarship open to all full-time graduating high school seniors in good academic standing, of any ethnic or cultural background, who plan to attend an accredited college or vocational school. In addition to the application, an original essay, letter of recommendation and high school transcript must be scanned to PDF and emailed to APCA@att.com Application packet is available in the guidance office or at www.apca-att.org

NJ KEY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP – Seventeen scholarships will be awarded to members of the NJ Key Club, Class of 2010, “who have exemplified incomparable dedication to serving the children of our world, demonstrating an outstanding capacity in academics, and upholding the objects of Key Club International during their high school years.” Details and application are available in the guidance office. Application must be postmarked by the deadline date.

SCHOLAR ATHLETE MILK MUSTACHE OF THE YEAR (SAMMY) – The program is designed to recognize outstanding graduating high school student athletes from across the country who show excellence in academics, athletic performance, leadership and community service. Applications will only be accepted online at www.bodybymilk.com.

NEW JERSEY BURGLAR & FIRE ALARM ASSN (NJBFAA) – Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who has been accepted to an accredited college/university, and the son or daughter of active-duty police or fire personnel. Eligibility criteria include class average, combined SAT scores, awards received, hobbies, school and outside extracurricular activities. Essay required. FUTURE MUNICIPAL LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP – High school juniors and seniors in Middletown are invited to submit essays about their local government for a chance to win a $1000 scholarship. The theme, "What My Mayor and Governing Body Do Best", seeks to advance the virtues of elected and volunteer members of municipal government. Application and information are available in the guidance office.

JOHN LEPPING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Open to disabled youth, including but not limited to physical disabilities (spinal cord injury, loss of limb, birth defects, etc.) and psychological handicaps (autism, post-traumatic stress, etc.); economically disadvantaged youth, including but not limited to youth unable to financially support education due to family economic status; athletic youth, demonstrating athletic and academic success. CAMPBELL SCHOLARSHIP (MYAA) – Open to high school seniors who have participated in the MYAA Little League (Baseball/Softball) Program. Two scholarships will be awarded, one each for a boy and a girl. Applications are available in the guidance office or at www.middletownlittleleague.org.

FRIENDLY SONS OF ST. PATRICK – This Jersey Shore Foundation is offering $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who are residents of Monmouth or Ocean County and who will be attending college in September. Applicants must have at least one parent, grandparent or great-grandparent of Irish heritage. Financial need and academic excellence are also prime considerations. Applications are available in the guidance office.

MONMOUTH COUNTY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION – Scholarship is open to children of MCEA and is based on academic achievement and community service. Typed statement and transcript required. Details and application are available in the guidance office. Application must be submitted through the guidance office to arrive in the MCEA office by the deadline date.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP CULTURAL & ARTS COUNCIL – Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, a full-time Middletown resident, and be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning for 2010-2011 pursuing studies in the arts. The applicant must possess specific knowledge and expertise in an area of the arts, and have a record of involvement, service, and contribution in their school/community relating to their specific art discipline. Other application requirements include letters of recommendation, an original essay and a resume. Further details and application are available in the guidance office.

NEW JERSEY FOSTER CARE SCHOLARS – Scholarships and grants are available to high school seniors who are graduating in 2010, and who are or were in foster/adoptive care through the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services. TAIWAN BUDDHIST TZU CHI FOUNDATION – Open to graduating high school seniors, and is based on academic achievement, community involvement and financial need. Application is available in the guidance office or at www.us.tzuchi.org

TOURETTE SYNDROME ASSOCIATION OF NJ, INC. – Applicant must be a citizen of the state of NJ; a high school senior in either a private or public school in NJ; plan to attend a college or trade school on a part-time or full-time basis; have a diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome; provide record of grades in the junior year and senior year to date; submit an essay. APRIL

WILLIAM R. EASTMOND MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Sponsored by the Jersey Shore Pop Warner Football League, Inc. Eligibility requirements include participation at the Jersey Shore Pop Warner level for at least one year, either on the football team or cheerleading/dance squad, and plans to attend an accredited college/university in the fall of this year. MARINE TRADES ASSOCIATION OF NJ – Two scholarships are offered:  a full scholarship to attend the Automotive Training Center for the Marine Service Technology Program in Pennsylvania; and a $3000 scholarship that can be applied towards any marine trades program at any school. NEW JERSEY UTILITIES ASSOCIATION - is offering scholarships to minority, female or disabled students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree. Applicant must also be a New Jersey resident, show overall academic excellence, and demonstrate financial need. THE MONMOUTH CIVIC CHORUS – Scholarships available for college-bound graduating seniors who are vocally talented. Must be a resident of New Jersey. ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY Open to graduating high school seniors within Monmouth County who have demonstrated superior academic achievement, community involvement, plan to enroll at a four year institution leading to a degree, and are seeking financial assistance. ARMED FORCES COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS ASSN. (AFCEA)/FORT MONMOUTH CHAPTER – Awarding the Dr. Joseph Frank, Dr. Walter S. McAfee and Barbara Fisher (Vo-Tech) Scholarships to competitively selected high school seniors in Monmouth/Ocean counties. Minimum criteria include commitment to the pursuit of a college degree in communications, computer science or electronics in preparation for a career in Science or Engineering; rank in the top 25% of the class; good academic standing in science/math, and acceptance into the science/engineering program(s) of an accredited college. AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY, DEPARTMENT OF NEW JERSEY - Applicant must be a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a veteran who served in the Armed Forces during the eligibility dates for membership in the American Legion. CHRISTIAN ABBES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must be a graduating high school senior, who is either a member themselves or the son, daughter, stepson or stepdaughter of a living or deceased member of one of the eleven Middletown Township Volunteer Fire Companies. Information and application are available in the guidance office. Applications must be returned to guidance by April 9th.

IT’S 21. JUST PASS – Campaign designed to help reinforce the message that the legal drinking age is 21, and to help educate students on the consequences and risks of underage drinking. Students can take a short, interactive online quiz testing their knowledge of the legal drinking age at www.its21justpass.com and be entered in a drawing for a $5,000 scholarship.

MONMOUTH COUNTY ASSN OF SCHOOL BUSINESS OFFICIALS – Open to high school seniors who attend Monmouth County public schools. Minimum criteria include 2.5 GPA, acceptance at a 2 or 4 year college, and a major in business or education. Also required are an essay on the importance of community service, and a letter of recommendation from a counselor or teacher. Applications are available in the guidance office.

PAST PRESIDENTS PARLEY 2010 NURSES SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION - Applicant must be a child, grandchild or great-grandchild of a veteran who served in the Armed Forces during the eligibility dates for membership in the American Legion, a resident of the state of NJ two years prior to applying for the scholarship, and a member of the graduating class of 2010. Application and information are available in the guidance office.

CLAIRE OLIPHANT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - Applicant must be a child, grandchild or great-grandchild of a veteran who served in the Armed Forces during the eligibility dates for membership in the American Legion, a resident of the state of NJ for two years immediately prior to applying for the scholarship, and a member of the graduating class of 2010. NEW JERSEY DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS 2010 SCHOLARSHIP – Applicant must be a New Jersey resident, graduating high school senior, and a natural or adopted descendant of a member of the DAV, Department of NJ (proof required). NJ VIETNAM VETERANS’ MEMORIAL FOUNDATION - Awarding two $2,500.00 scholarships for post-high school education (college, community college, trade school, etc.) Applicant must be NJ resident, a graduating high school senior, visit the Memorial and write an essay about the visit, and submit verification of acceptance at a particular school. All applications must be received at the Foundation’s office no later than April 16, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. Information and applications are available in the guidance office.

NEW JERSEY CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME ASSOCIATION, INC. – Applicant must be a New Jersey high school senior who has been diagnosed with CFS, and accepted or enrolled in full or part time college or accredited technical school for 2009-2010 school year. PRINCETON AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION/GLAZIER SCHOLARSHIP - Applicant must have a parent who has been or is afflicted with cancer, or must be battling cancer him/herself; must be graduating from a high school in either Ocean or Monmouth County; must be accepted as a full time student at an accredited college, university or vocational school. Other factors include financial need, academic excellence, community service, extracurricular activities, leadership and work experience. XX OLYMPIAD MEMORIAL AWARD Awarded by the Monmouth-Ocean County Council of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA to an outstanding scholar-athlete. The award honors the memory of the Israeli Olympic team members who were slain at the XX Olympics in Munich, Germany in 1972. The competition is non-sectarian, and the sole criterion is that the student be a high school senior in the Monmouth-Ocean counties area. NATIONAL KITCHEN & BATH ASSOCIATION – NORTHERN NJ CHAPTER – Three one-time scholarships of $1500 will be awarded to students who will attend college or a trade/business/professional school to further their marketability in the Design community. Application requirements include an essay, transcript and letter of recommendation. Details and application are available in the guidance office. Application must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline date.

B.DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP – Application requires an essay of less than 1,000 words on the following topic:  “Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most.
